Oh those PUAs (pickup artists) and their crazy acronyms... what with the AFCs the IOIs and of course... don't forget the DHVs! Ha ha larious.
So, today I thought I'd take a look at one of my favorite PUA acronyms, you gotta love this one... AMOGs, yep, AMOGs or Alpha Male Other Guys, those are the other alpha males who, according to widely published reports will try to make you look like loser in front of girls, cockblock, and basically keep you from accomplishing your missions to procure females.
Here's my take on AMOGs: they don't exist to me.
AMOGs don't really exist as such, I mean a guy is only an AMOG if you choose to think in those terms and put that particular label on people. I don't and that's why they don't exist for me.
I think that the whole concept of AMOGs springs from a scarcity mindset. A mind-set where you are in competition with all of these other guys for women who are like trophies or something, WTF, it doesn't need to be like that.
I've found that I do a lot better when I look at everybody I run into as a potential friend, instead of a potential competitor, and this goes for business and pleasure. Having an adversarial vibe is what really makes a guy look like a loser to everybody.
Look at it this way, nobody else really has the power to cockblock you, you just cockblock yourself by not knowing how to deal with them the right way mentally.
So, what do you do if some guy gets in the way of you talking to the girl that you want to talk to?
Here are a few tips:
1) Don't call him an AMOG. If you call guys AMOGs, what you are basically saying is that they are "alpha-males" which is a compliment. Why would you choose to think about them like that? how does that benefit you? Furthermore, if the guy is being aggressive that's usually a pretty clear that he's not an 'alpha-man' he wouldn't need to show aggression, he would just naturally dominate.
2) Realize that it's not his fault. He doesn't know you, he doesn't know that you are the man and that he should respect you, but that's not his fault. If you are at a bar he's probably just a little drunk and he's about to go home alone, and possibly barf, so don't worry about him.
3) It's not a competition. It's not like you can just have an arm wrestling match and the girl is going to go home with the winner. Its up to her who she's going to choose, so sit back like the real alpha-man and let her make the right choice. Instead of worrying about how to handle other dudes, worry about getting things off to a strong start with the girls you talk to so that they won't be open to other guys who try to butt in.
4) If it's you who's butting in, realize that it's rude to try to take girls away from other guys, so you've pretty much got it coming. The best idea is to talk to the dudes in the group and just try to feel out the situation to make sure you aren't stepping on another guys toes. If one of the other guys is 'claiming' the girl you like but she seems interested ask yourself if it is worth it to talk to this girl when their are probably other girls nearby that you could talk to without needing to worry about a third wheel.
5) Either tell the guy to go away, tell the girl to go somewhere with you or just ignore him. In most situation, if the girl is feeling you, she will ignore the other guy and talk to you until the 'AMOG' gets the hint and leaves. If he is clueless and the problem persists for more than a couple minutes, it will likely become intolerable, so you need to end it. Either tell your girl you want to leave, or tell him to leave depending on what is going on logistically.
6) Lift weights. If you look physically formidable, very few dudes will try to cockblock you unless they are actually the girls boyfriend.
So, do you see why you shouldn't worry about other dudes? What are they going to do? Outwit you and make you look bad in front of some girl? Just hang back, be friendly and don't pay them any mind. Focus on the girl, enjoy relating to her, don't let some knucklehead break your focus. If guys are straight up insulting you or making fun of you in front of a girl, you should definitely pay attention to Tip #6 Lift Weights because that's a serious problem that should be addressed!
